The art of Michael C. Hsiung.....
I recently bought a little gocco print from a great artist from Los Angeles, Michael C. Hsiung. I really dig his approach to his illustrations. Simple, clean black line work is used to create his quirky characters which are often introduced to you via a dash of narrative, offering an insight into their world. Michael also writes for Headquarters, a blog type site packed with wholesome arty goodness, you should check it out right after you check my cool new print below,"Portrait of Merman and his illegitimate Child?". Then go check out more of his stuff and buy yourself a signed & numbered, limited edition gocco print at his site www.michaelchsiung.com

Numero Uno.....

"Numero Uno" is a huge scaled No.1 sculpture modeled from the Rosewood font. Made of an oregon frame, a plywood skin and acrylic paints, it measures over 2.0 metres. (approx.5500 points!)
On Wednesday night I took it down the road to the Slam Factory for a photo shoot with a bunch of local skaters. I managed to get a couple of nice pics which I have entered into the Mooks Artspace January theme "numbers". Big up to all skaters who participated...you rip! and also a huge thanks goes out to Richard from Slam Factory.
My submission should be able to be viewed at mooksartspace.com soon. I will keep you posted, but for now checkout some video from the "Numero Uno Session" below....enjoy.
